In celebration of Seiko’s presence in Singapore for over half a century, Seiko has launched its new flagship boutique spanning over 700 square feet—boasting a premium and stylish store concept for watch aficionados to explore and experience every aspect of the luxury timepieces, from heritage to design to craftsmanship.

Marking Grand Seiko’s independence from Seiko since 2017, this boutique also features a prominent and dedicated section for Grand Seiko in its trademark blue and silver finishings, symbolising the fusion of elegance and simplicity that each timepiece offers.

The Grand Seiko Elegance Collection and the Grand Seiko Sport Collection were handcrafted in two studios in Japan—dedicated to the art of fine watchmaking—each piece is assembled by skilled artisans who ensure the highest precision, legibility and durability for which Grand Seiko is renowned for.

The Grand Seiko Elegance collection is a crystallisation of sophisticated simplicity, distilling the hallmarks of Japanese aesthetics into a manual-winding dress watch, the SBGY003, that is at once understated and refined with its slim profile.

The SBGY003 is set in a stainless steel case with a sunray dial pattern. The new manual-winding Spring Drive calibers’ signature glide motion seconds hand reflects the natural and continuous flow of time, exemplifying the Grand Seiko’s Japanese sensibility. The sleek minute and hour markers evoke the delicate interplay between light and shadow in nature, a symbolism that is an essential part of the Grand Seiko signature design language. Melding high art with sophisticated engineering, every SBGY003 features high definition dual-curved sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating that gives an unbridled view into the dial. The see-through screw case back showcases the craftsmanship of the new Spring Drive caliber, 9R31 movement, which has high precision rate of one second a day and delivers a power reserve of 72 hours. The crocodile strap features a three-fold clasp with push button release for the utmost comfort.

From the Grand Seiko Sport Collection, the SBGC231 and SBGA403 are resplendent in the imagery of the Grand Seiko lion. First introduced as Grand Seiko’s emblem in 1960, the lion reflects its vision to make a watch as precise, durable and beautiful as could be. Drawing inspiration from the strength and tenacity of the lion, the SBGC231 and SBGA403 feature two different and specially adjusted Spring Drive calibers – the Spring Drive Chronograph GMT 9R96 and the Spring Drive 9R15 respectively.

Specifically designed to resist high amounts of shock and temperature, Spring Drive assures an enhanced precision of 0.5 second a day is maintained even in the most demanding sports environment. With cases that are Zaratsu polished and diamond-cut surfaces for the hands and hour markers, both watches feature hour, minute, seconds and chronograph hands borne of a new and substantial design that increases the legibility of the time, which is further enhanced by the use of Lumibrite on the hands, hour markers and bezel and by the high definition dual-curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating.

With a perfect blend of performance, comfort and design, the watches are engineered with a curve to the lugs and low centre of gravity so that they rest easily on the wrist. Likewise, the bracelets are designed for comfort, with thicker, H-shaped links that wrap easily around any wrist size.

These three exclusive Grand Seiko timepieces, along with other Seiko watches are now available at the Seiko flagship boutique at Takashimaya Shopping Centre, Ngee Ann City. The prices start at S$11,449 for the SBGY003, S$15,515 for the SBGA403G, and S$18,297 for the SBGC231.
