When the introspective charm of a solo trip has lost its appeal, and you’re ready to dial it up with your social circle, it’s time to go all-out and organise a group vacation. Ultimately, no man is an island, and no island is made for companion-less men. It’s as Tim Cahill, editor of Outside magazine, once said: “A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.” Besides, should you find yourself in a dodgy turn of events, or forget to pack certain essentials, your buddies will be there to have your back. You could even book out an entire resort for you and your posse, guaranteeing many nights of epic memories. Not all destinations are suited for big group travels though. Maximise your holiday with the right itineraries and the right locales that match the size of your herd.

Tuscany, Italy

There’s no shortage of sprawling landscapes, wide plains and rolling hills in the Italian region of Tuscany. An ethereal, nature-drenched escape situated in central Italy, it is home to the capital of Florence, which is teeming with historic museums, Renaissance landmarks and eclectic boutiques. For a more novel experience, however, venture towards the countryside, where many of its charming, rustic hotels are made for large groups of travellers. You could also opt for a farmstay and rent the entire joint for a private soirée. Don’t miss the vineyards of Chianti that produces some of the world’s highest calibre of red wine, as well as the haunting castles of the Middle Ages—all of which allow your mates to roam as they wish.

Las Vegas, US

If you’re gearing up for the ultimate bachelorette party or stag night, there’s no better place to host it than Las Vegas, the infamous Sin City. In the self-proclaimed entertainment capital of the world, it’s casinos and nightclubs left, right and centre. Although there aren’t as many showgirls left as there used to be, due largely to changing tastes, it’s still got the greatest residencies, most recently hosting Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera. Even if you’re not here to celebrate the final days of singlehood, there’s no question these nightlife activities are best relished in good company.

Cempedak Island, Indonesia

Among the over 17,000 islands in Indonesia is a petite off-shore isle about 9km from the east coast of Bintan that houses an eco-conscious private luxury resort. An adults-only destination of unspeakable beauty, Cempedak Island comes with 20 two-storey bamboo villas (that can accommodate a maximum of 40 visitors), surrounded by the emerald sea, pristine beaches and untarnished greenery. The private huts include plunge pools and outdoor decks as well, making for a dreamy Utopian getaway. With the level of privacy it offers, you’re free to party it up with your squad or bask in the tranquility without external disturbances at any time.

Ibiza, Spain

Another island destination to visit with a sizable group is Ibiza, most known for its raucous nightlife culture. Contrary to what you may think, this clubbing haven has a softer side as well, with yoga retreats, sleepy towns and secluded coastal crannies. But group trips aren’t made for silent meditation. Join the seven million ravers that take over the Spanish island each year, as the creme de la creme of international DJs transform this tropical Mediterranean venue into a euphoric, sonic wonderland.

Yosemite National Park, US

Camping in the wilderness on your own is a death trap, so rally up the thrill-seeker adventurers in your life and conquer the iconic Yosemite National Park. Before you pack your hiking boots, you should know that about 95 per cent of the park, which spans a total of 1,169 square miles, is not equipped with electricity. It’ll be you, your flock of campers, the elements, and a few black bears. Having said that, the picturesque views of towering sequoia trees, granite monoliths, mammoth waterfalls and gemstone lakes at this UNESCO World Heritage Site—especially enjoyed with your nearest and dearest—are worth every insect bite.
